  • Professional references

Usage Data

  • Approximate or precise location if enabled, used to connect homeowners with contractors in their area

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Match homeowners with qualified contractors based on project type, location, and availability
  • Facilitate communication between homeowners and contractors
  • Verify contractor licensing, insurance, and identity prior to platform admission
  • Process and reconcile platform fees
  • Send SMS notifications related to account activity, job status updates, contractor matches, lead alerts, and promotional messages
  • Improve platform performance and user experience
  • Prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and maintain platform safety
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With Other Users: Information necessary to facilitate a match or job, such as a homeowner's name and project details shared with a matched contractor, or a contractor's profile and contact information shared with a homeowner.
  • With Service Providers: Third-party vendors who assist in operating the Platform including web hosting, analytics, payment processing, and SMS delivery services. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
  • For Legal Compliance: When required by law, court order, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of HearthTrades, our users, or the public.
  • In a Business Transfer: In connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or other business transition, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users of any such change via the Platform or by email.

4. SMS Communications

By providing your phone number and creating an account or submitting a job request, you consent to receive SMS messages from HearthTrades. These messages may include job status updates, contractor match notifications, lead alerts, account reminders, and occasional promotional messages.

  • Reply STOP to opt out at any time
  • Reply HELP for assistance
  • Opting out of SMS will not affect your ability to use the Platform

We do not share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Contractor Data and Vetting Information

As part of our contractor vetting process, we collect and store sensitive business documentation including license certificates, insurance certificates, EINs, and reference contact information.

This information is:

  • Used solely for the purpose of verifying contractor qualifications and enforcing our platform standards
  • Stored securely and accessible only to authorized HearthTrades team members
  • Never sold or shared with third parties outside of the circumstances described in Section 3

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. These measures include encrypted data transmission, access controls, and secure storage practices.

However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. If you believe your account has been compromised contact us immediately at support@hearthtrades.com.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of your personal information subject to legal retention requirements
  • Opt out of SMS communications by replying STOP to any message
  • Opt out of promotional email communications by using the unsubscribe link in any email

Contractor vetting documentation is retained for the duration of the contractor's time on the platform and for a reasonable period thereafter in accordance with our legal obligations.

9. Children's Privacy

The HearthTrades Platform is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information we will take steps to delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has submitted information through our Platform contact us at support@hearthtrades.com.

10. Third-Party Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. HearthTrades is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we do we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Platform following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
